Capitalism and Convict Leasing in the American South: a Symposium
This symposium was hosted at Rice University on April 4, 2019, focused on capitalism and the convict leasing system in the American South. The collection consists of the videorecordings of the symposium sessions, as well as a PDF copy of the event program, all of which are online at https://scholarship.rice.edu/handle/1911/108818.

The material in this collection was removed from the Rice Institute Business Manager's Records, dating from circa 1844-1940. It is composed primarily of legal materials, receipts, correspondence, bank records, court case records, and diaries.
Card G. Elliott, Jr. Family collection
Letters, diaries, scrapbooks, and notebooks belonging to various members of the Elliott family, dating from 1830-1951. The majority of the collection's letters are from the early 20th-century, though some date from the U.S. Civil War (describing life in Mississippi). Other materials describe farm life in Kansas, railroad business, attendance at Rice Institute, and the family life of the Elliotts.
Carroll Parrott Blue art and storytelling collection
This collection includes photographic prints by Blue, digital media relating to digital storytelling, documentation of Houston community art projects, books featuring Blue or inspiring to her, documentation of projects such as Dawn at My Back, and materials related to her academic career and conferences attended.

This collection includes records from collaborations with downtown entities developing Houston's city workings largely dating from the 1980s to the 2010s. Formats include but are not limited to meeting minutes, correspondence, photographs, financial documents, dvds, and news clippings.
