Rice University Presidential Inaugural Committee Records: President George Rupp
Scope and Contents
The majority of the collection is comprised of the committee's working papers related to the events comprising the inauguration of Rice University President George Rupp. The material, removed from binders, is three-hole punched and separated by subject dividers. It consists of correspondence, organizational charts, committee lists, meetings and agendas, delegate information, faculty information, programs, invitations, thanks you letters, news clippings, and other types of information they compiled during the planning of the inauguration, such as music, ushers, procession, robing, events, transportation, hotels, expenses, etc. Included are official copies of programs, delegate packets and proceedings. Cassette tapes made of the ceremony and inaugural dinner are included as well as one Macintosh Multiplan Disc.
An addendum was received from the Office of University Relations containing the inauguration files from the Director of Public Relations, Brent Breedin. Most of the files were duplicates but some items were added to the committee's papers with a notation of origin. Brent Breedin's files also contained some working materials from his office and they were added to the collection in a separate folder in the Public Relations section (Box 3).
