11. Jewish community

This collection is made up of one box containing administrative records, books, correspondences, news clippings, photographs, and programs from Temple B'nai Israel donated by the Lack Family, spanning from 1877-2019.

The collection consists of one box containing correspondence; books; event materials, including dance programs and wedding invitations; bulletins; newsletters and news clippings; a photograph; and a VHS cassette featuring an interview with 104 year old Lorraine Isaacs Hofeller regarding the 1900 Galveston storm. Materials in the collection range from 1919 to 2002.

Three boxes containing newspaper articles, Congregation Beth Yeshurun journals, Texas Jewish Historical Society Membership Directories, Robert M. Beren Academy anniversary journals, Holocaust Museum Houston journals, brochures, and memorabilia document some activities that Dr. Debra Bootin was involved in from 1995 to 2017.

A Pleasantville brochure, directories, photographs, memorabilia, and published materials document some activities that Terri Bamberger was involved in from 1951 to 2010.

One box of newspaper clippings, photographs, magazine articles, writings, correspondence, agendas, yearbooks, a musical score, and a Holocaust curriculum book documents the lives of members of the Wolf / Mazow family from 1935 to 2018.

Telegrams, handwritten notes, an invitation and photocopies of a wedding album document the wedding of Barbara Marie Goltzman and Sidney Theodore Levis on December 9, 1956.

This collection includes a confirmation certificate, wedding photographs, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and a 65th Anniversary booklet for Sylvia and Morris Schultz spanning the years 1944 to 2018.

Three boxes containing photographs (wedding, family, events), a photo album, materials in support of political candidates, awards/certificates, correspondence, newsletters, news clippings, books, and school report cards document activities undertaken by members of the Plotkin family from 1945 to 2017.

One folder containing a Hebrew karaoke sing along and Shabbat Shalom book, both undated, documents some interests of Irving Rose.

This collection contains issues of the Jewish Herald-Voice, as well as related correspondence, newsprint and articles, photographs, and a Directory of Jewish Organizations showcasing different aspects of the Jewish community and smaller groups that make it up. "Representing the great and powerful diversity of [the Houston and Texas Gulf Coast Jewish communities,] the Herald unites many thoughts in its weekly pages" (Newspaper owners Samuels and Levy).
