Shannon-Scott family of Texas papers

Abstract:

The collection, consisting of photocopies of letters, genealogies, military documents, newspaper clippings, and modern reproductions of family photographs, pertains to the Texas families of Alexander May Shannon and William B. Scott, Shannon's father in-law. Highlights of the collection are a number of letters written by Shannon and Scott regarding U.S. Civil War battles (including the battle at Galveston) and daily life and living conditions in the army.

Shelby D. Goodman collection

The Shelby D. Goodman collection contains concept sketches and photographs of two of Goodman’s most influential buildings--the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston Building and the Kaplan Museum of Judaica. In addition, the collection has several religious group photographs, and six sound recordings of Jewish religious music, offering a rich insight into Jewish spaces and traditions in the community.
