Scope and Contents
The Ingeborg H. Larrey photograph collection covers a 25-year period between 1980-2005. The collection is primarily photographs, including color slides, prints and photo negatives. A small series of personal documents, correspondence and authored publications is also included.
Series I - Houston Musicians and Performers - contains photographs of blues, jazz, rock 'n roll and gospel performances in the Houston area. The life and career of Houston bandleader Milt Larkin is well-documented in the collection, due to the photographer's personal friendship with Larkin and his family. Series II - Houston Landmarks and Events - includes images of iconic Houston architecture, as well as important cultural and sporting events. Images of the Houston Rodeo and Trail Riders, the Houston Marathon, political rallies and annual parades are featured in this series. Series III contains general interest material from around Texas, including images of Galveston in the 1980s, The Huntsville Prison Rodeo and of Texas A&M football games. Series IV covers the photographer's work as an international photographer in Mexico, Turkey and Germany. The remaining series (V and VI) contain personal documents, correspondence and photographers from the life of Ingeborg Larrey.

Biographical / Historical
Ingeborg "Inge" Henriette Larrey (b. January 21, 1934 in Freiburg, Germany) is a freelance photographer, specializing in images of blues, jazz and gospel performers in the Houston area. After working as an international photographer and au pair in Germany, Finland, England, Belgium, Spain and Turkey, she married Louis A. Larrey in 1981 and subsequently immigrated to the United States, settling in Houston in 1983. Her photographs have been featured in various publications (including the Houston Chronicle and Houston Post), as well as on cassette and record covers. Her subjects include Houston architecture, the Houston Rodeo and Trail Riders, and various cultural events around Texas, in addition to her work with the Houston jazz and blues scene. Her friendship with Houston trumpeter and bandleader Milt Larkin and his family allowed her the opportunity to document his career over many years. She is a charter member of the National Museum of Women in the Arts and a founding member of the Milt Larkin Jazz Society. Larrey retired to Germany in 2007.
