Contains offprints of articles written by early Rice chemistry professor Harry Boyer Weiser between 1913 and 1950. The collection includes a complete bibliography of articles and books written by Weiser as well as some personal correspondence between Weiser and Rice Institute President E.O Lovett.

Biographical / Historical

Dr. Harry Boyer Weiser was fresh out of Cornell with a newly-minted doctorate in chemistry and newly married when Edgar Odell Lovett summoned him to establish the Department of Chemistry at Rice Institute. For thirty-five years, until his untimely death in 1950, Dr. Weiser served as Professor and Chairman of the Chemistry Department. In 1933 he was also named Dean of the Institute. His work in chemistry placed him among the top ten colloid chemists in the world. He wrote seven chemistry textbooks, the last of which was a second edition.

Arrangement

The articles in scientific journals are arranged chronologically, preceded by a bibliography and personal correspondence and succeeded by miscellaneous exercises and abstracts.
