Stages Theater records contain materials related to play production programs and other production materials from 1978-2016, press clippings, annual gala and events records, administrative records, photographs, and circa 200 audio and video recordings in analog formats such as VHS and audio cassette.

This material is open for research, except for the Development series, which includes restricted personal financial data regarding donations and requires written permission from Stages Theater for access, until 2038.

Conditions Governing Use

Permission to publish material from the Stages Theater records must be facilitated through the Woodson Research Center, Fondren Library.

The Woodson Research Center use policy is that researchers assume sole responsibility for any infringement of privacy, literary rights, copyrights, or other rights arising from their use of the archival materials. In addition to any restrictions placed by donors, certain kinds of archival materials are restricted for the life of the creator plus 50 years. These materials include, but are not limited to, student grades, transcripts, and any job applications or recommendations.

Biographical / Historical

Founded in 1978, Stages has grown to become Houston's leading mid-sized theatre company, the city's sixth largest nonprofit performing arts producer overall, and the largest outside of Houston's downtown theatre district. Stages is one of the region's leading artistic employers, producing an average of 12 productions per year totaling more than 380 performances and welcoming 65,000+ visitors each season.
