Kezia Payne DePelchin letters
The collection consists of a bound volume of 28 letters, the majority of which were written by Mrs. Kezia Payne DePelchin (1828-1893) to her sister, describing her experiences as a nurse during the yellow fever epidemic of 1878 in Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama. The volume also includes letters from E. Kate Heckle, a friend and fellow nurse, to DePelchin, describing some of her own experiences during the same epidemic.
Ann Fears Crawford papers
The Ann Fears Crawford papers consist mainly of research materials and drafts for three different manuscripts on Texas politicians: the Governors Ferguson, Kay Bailey Hutchison, and Frankie Carter Randolph.
Capt. James A. Baker and the Rice Institute papers
The material in this collection was removed from the Rice Institute Business Manager's Records, dating from circa 1844-1940. It is composed primarily of legal materials, receipts, correspondence, bank records, court case records, and diaries.

The collection contains records and printed material on the early land holdings and dealings of William Marsh Rice and the Rice Institute in 45 Texas counties and 4 Louisiana parishes. The collection also contains records and printed material concerning early Rice Institute campus construction, legal matters (including judicial settlements and statements), institutional housekeeping (including receipts and invoices from 1891-1907), and campus area property and construction.
