Biographical / Historical

The Houston Blues Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was founded in 1993 in order to provide for the study, research, and preservation of the history of the blues culture and music unique to Houston, Texas and the Texas Gulf Coast. The society is also dedicated to the development of the blues tradition in Houston and increased public awareness of the existence and value of that tradition. The Houston blues society organizes blues concerts and events, hosts a monthly blues jam, organizes fundraisers and volunteers to help local blues artists with financial and health issues, administers scholarships for Houston area students pursuing blues music education, and keeps members informed of blues-related issues and events and through a weekly newsletter.
