The Shepherd Society was founded in 1977 to further the cause of music at Rice University and in Houston through scholarship support and promotion of the programs and recognition of the musical talents of teachers and students of the Shepherd School of Music. The records relate to the governing council of the society, meetings and their agendas and minutes, published materials such as programs, announcements and invitations for special concerts and the Madrigal Dinner.

Baker College is one of the five original residential colleges at Rice University. These records consist of material related to college business, social activities, publications, and correspondence, as well as photographs, video, and scrapbooks.

These records reflect the daily business of the Rice University President's Office, during the tenure of Rice's second president, physicist William Vermillion Houston, and date from 1946-1960. Formats include correspondence, reports, memos, notes, newsclippings, and speeches.

Formats include photographs, slides, negatives and beta format videotapes, as well as some written biographical information, awards, and ephemera such as a basketball jersey. The bulk covers men's sports, football and track in particular.

The Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Studies search committee, 1995-1996, was chaired by Ken Kennedy. These records reflect the course of the search and his role as chair. Access to this material requires special permission.

The collection represents the history of Beer-Bike, the race rules, resolution, reports, newsclippings, realia, and financial lists as well as some programs.

The American Association of University Professors: Rice University chapter collection consists of folders containing meeting minutes, correspondence, membership rosters, newsletters and other documents representing the regular business of the Rice University chapter. Specific issues covered in the collection are academic freedom and freedom of the press at Rice University.
