22. Rice University faculty and administrative records

The G. King Walters academic service papers represent Walters' participation on committees and task forces at Rice University. Walters graduated from Rice Institute in 1953 with a degree in physics. He was hired by Rice as a Physics professor in 1963. Walters remained at Rice through retirement in 1999 and beyond, advancing through the professorial ranks to chairman of the physics department, assistant dean of natural sciences, and dean of natural sciences.

The collection consists of audio cassette recordings and transcripts of interviews with three former presidents of Rice University, Kenneth Pitzer, Norman Hackerman, and George Rupp, made in 1993 and 1994, and videotaped interviews of the same individuals, made in 1995. Also included are an audiotaped interview of a Rice alumna, made in 1990, with transcript, and videotaped interviews of a Rice student and two Rice faculty members, made in 1995.

The records of Rice University President David Leebron document the daily business of the office, including correspondence, and subject files on on-campus and off-campus entities. These records cover the beginning of Leebron's tenure in 2004, going forward to 2011, and also include some files which carried over from the immediately previous president, Malcolm Gillis, dating from 1992.

The architectural papers of Anderson Todd, AIA, cover his academic career at Rice University as well as his private practice in Houston, Texas.
