Abstract

The collection holds the chemistry research materials during a portion of Dr. Robert Curl's tenure at Rice University through 2012. The materials, arranged chronologically, include typescript copies, proofs, notes, charts, correspondence and reprints regarding published and unfinished research. Also contains information relating to Curl's positions on non-Rice boards and committees.

Abstract

The Dean of Engineering Records cover the years 1951 to 2011 for the Engineering School at Rice Univeristy in Houston, Texas. The records include the papers of several deans and staff. Topics include academics, research projects, faculty, and general administration.

Scope and Contents

These papers contain course materials, publications authored or co-authored by Dr. Hellums, and documents related to the academic and departmental activities of the Biomedical Engineering Laboratory and Chemical Engineering at Rice University.

The collection consists of materials from Dr. John W. Clark, Jr., professor in both the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Bioengineering at Rice University. The collection also includes records of Dr. Clark’s participation in the work of several university committees, specifically Parking, Graduate Student, Admissions, and the Library. The collection consists of audio cassette recordings and transcripts of interviews with three former presidents of Rice University, Kenneth Pitzer, Norman Hackerman, and George Rupp, made in 1993 and 1994, and videotaped interviews of the same individuals, made in 1995. Also included are an audiotaped interview of a Rice alumna, made in 1990, with transcript, and videotaped interviews of a Rice student and two Rice faculty members, made in 1995.
