Records reflecting the business of the Fondren Library Planning Committee, which explored and planned a redesign of the library at Rice University, 1993-1999.

The collection consists of personal correspondence, food and drink recipes of Pender Turnbull, Rice Institute graduate and librarian. Photographs of the Rice campus, buildings, faculty, and student activities are also included.

This collection contains records numerous relating to all aspects of Fondren Library between 1940 and 2022, including information regarding a variety of committees and events, correspondences, budgets, meeting minutes, and staff administration.

The collection consists of early library records, including, correspondence with other university libraries, book lists, inventories of furniture and fixtures, and general correspondence.

These records reflect the business of the Vice Provist and University Librarian search committee of 2007, whose efforts resulted in the hiring of Sara Lowman.

The Fondren Papers provide a record of the Fondren family's acquisition and dispersal of money in Houston and across Texas during the first three-quarters of this century and offers additional information on the financial workings of several well-known institutions and corporations. Formats include correspondence and financial documents.
