Newsclippings regarding Arnold's 1947 UFO sighting and other instances of UAP in the news over the following decades, correspondence from community members and publishers, drafts of the book "The Coming of the Saucers" and a book draft by Arnold's daughter, Kim Arnold, entitled "My Dear Dad." Although Arnold received many more letters in response to his sighting, the Arnold family states that this is extent of what remains from Kenneth Arnold's papers.

Biographical / Historical
Kenneth Arnold, 1915-1984, was a civilian pilot who first used the name "flying saucer" after a sighting near near Mount Rainier, Washington, in 1947. Arnold reported seeing 9 shiny objects flying in a V-formation at speeds exceeding current technlogy. This sighting is considered the beginning of the modern era of UAP sightings, and gained national attention.
