Abstract

Kenneth Arnold, 1915-1984, was a civilian pilot who first used the name "flying saucer" after a sighting near near Mount Rainier, Washington, in 1947. This collection includes newsclippings regarding Arnold's 1947 UFO sighting and other instances of UAP in the news over the following decades, correspondence from community members and publishers, drafts of the book "The Coming of the Saucers" and a book draft by Arnold's daughter, Kim Arnold, entitled "My Dear Dad."
