Biographical / Historical

Edward Stone was born in 1941 in Houston, Texas. His father ran a wholesale grocery business and sold to grocers in Southeast Texas. In his youth, Edward was active in Jewish life, particularly in the local Houston chapter of BBYO. He attended Bellaire High School and the University of Texas at Austin. In his freshman year at UT, he met his wife, Barbara, and they were married a year after graduation. Barbara, Edward, and their children spent several years living in Canada, San Francisco, and Boston, while Edward served as the Manager of the Toronto Operations of the Clorox Company of Canada. Eventually the family moved to Dallas, Texas, in the summer of 1975. Edward worked as the Product manager of Frito-Lay for about a year and a half until he founded the Dallas Marketing Group in July 1976. He retired in December 2006. Edward served as a board member at Temple Emanu El in Dallas for over 12 years and currently serves as a Board Member of the Literacy Instruction for Texas (LIFT).
