Wendelle C. Stevens was born on January 18, 1923 in Round Prairie, Minnesota. Shortly after graduating high school Stevens enlisted in the Army where he worked as an airplane mechanic. He rose to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army Air Corps and would eventually become a Lieutenant Colonel. During his time in the service Stevens was assigned to Alaska for polar survey projects and mapping. It was during this period Stevens encountered UFO stories and became interested in the topic. He retired from military service in 1963.

Stevens became an investigator, photographer, author, and private publisher for UFO and related phenomena ultimately starting the business, UFO Photo Archives to support his work. His most notable case is that of Eduard “Billy” Meier in which Meier alleged to be in contact with beings from the planet Plejaren. From 1983 to 1988, Stevens was incarcerated in the Arizona State Prison system. He was released from parole in 1988.
