Biographical / Historical
Scott Walker Holtzman (1933-2001) and Vivian Annette Yarbrough Holtzman (1920-1999) met in Los Angeles around 1961. After marrying in Nevada, their initial plans were to move to Nashville and become songwriters. They stopped in Houston, became a folk duo at the Jester Lounge, and never left. After the folk boom imploded, they went on to manage, produce, and write songs for the Texas psychedelic band, The Fever Tree. In the mid-1970s, Scott Holtzman worked as a DJ and also managed and produced Diane Kolby. Scott and Vivian acted in plays and were the managers/entertainment directors for the Million Dollar Dump, which later became the club/music venue Numbers. In the 1980s, they divorced, after Scott came out as gay. Over the following years, they continued to participate in Houston's theatre scene.
