Abstract

This collection includes individual files for photographs of Rice related persons, photographs of Rice University views, interiors, and buildings, photographs of Rice related events, and more. The contents are donated by Rice community members and/or gathered by the Woodson Research Staff, and represent one of the most heavily used portions of the University archives.

Born digital research materials related to courses taught by Tani Barlow and her own research. Originally held by Brown University, per archivist Mary Murphy there, and transferred to Rice because of the digital preservation program here. File formats include PDF and jpg. This collection includes duplicates of Rice University publications, individual copies of which have been cataloged separately and are available in the Woodson Research Center and/or in Fondren Library main stacks.

Abstract: These records include the original William Marsh Rice murder trial records, and the estate records of Rice, founder of Rice Institute, now Rice University. These records relate to the formation of the idea of the Rice Institute and the activities of its first Board of Trustees in the years before Mr. Rice’s death and to the Institute’s formative years just after his death. The collections includes a series of scrapbooks of the activities of Rice alumni and a series of scrapbooks from Rice University departments, Rice-related events, and other materials related to the life of the university.

Abstract

The Jeffrey J. Kripal Papers mostly covers Kripal’s tenure at Rice University up to 2015 (and will eventually cover at least up to 2019) but also reaches as far back as 1970. It includes correspondence, unpublished manuscripts, course materials, and on-going research.
