Abstract

This collection is composed of correspondence, memos, minutes, reports, commencement procedures, notices and emails that document the activities of Rice University standing committees between 1946 and 2000.

The collection consists of a variety of visual images--slides, CDs, and photographic prints--of people, events, and activities of the Rice University Bioengineering Department from its establishment in 1997 to 2008, when the ten-year anniversary was celebrated.

These papers contain course materials, publications authored or co-authored by Dr. Hellums, and documents related to the academic and departmental activities of the Biomedical Engineering Laboratory and Chemical Engineering at Rice University.

In 1971 Sewall Hall was constructed making space available for a permanent art gallery at Rice University referred to as the Sewall Gallery and later as Rice University Art Gallery. These records reflect the exhibitions held there and related administrative functions.

Scope and Contents These papers relate to the scholarly and teaching career of J. Dennis Huston. They reflect the courses he taught on the plays of Shakespeare and other British Renaissance dramatists, on detective fiction, and on works constituting the Western humanities tradition. The collection consists of materials from Elinor Evans' career at Rice University and materials documenting her personal work, including works exhibited at the Moody Gallery. The collection includes paintings, sketches, collages, woven and tapestry work, photographs and slides, correspondence, and awards.

The holding consists of papers relating to the Rice Quantum Institute, laser and laser fusion studies, articles and personal papers. Professor Tittel was a guest of the 1996 Nobel Prize investiture of his associates Robert Curl and Richard Smalley and his mementos of the occasion are included.
