Abstract These administrative files of the Rice University Anthropology Department reflect the daily business of the department, including correspondence, conference papers/articles/publications, CVs, research/travel funding requests, student evaluations, hiring and promotional materials, and personnel information. In addition, materials on anthropology syllabi and courses offered are included. This material begins in the 1950s and continues through 2007.

Overview Departmental announcements, brochures, reports, course evaluations, departmental correspondence, outlines for the 1966 Kahn Lecture, and materials from the dedication of the new Architecture School facilities at Rice University, 1981. Also included are course outlines, materials, rosters, and lecture notes of the Urban Design Program taught by O. Jack Mitchell (1969-1991), as well as the program history, and initial proposal. Overview In 1971 Sewall Hall was constructed making space available for a permanent art gallery at Rice University referred to as the Sewall Gallery and later as Rice University Art Gallery. These records reflect the exhibitions held there and related administrative functions.

Abstract This collection contains records regarding the travels, expenses, and applications created by the Associate Provost between 1997 and 2004. These include information on travels of the Associate Provost and members of the Office, records of travel and other expenses, and applications to Rice's Institute for Recruitment of Teachers (IRT).

Overview These materials include correspondence, minutes, notes, and other materials related to the searches for an Associate Provost during the years 1986, 1995, and 1996. Also included are the materials submitted by the applicants for each search. This material is restricted.

Scope and Contents This collection currently holds the Academic Memoirs Project, created by the Association of Retired Rice University Faculty, with one memoir created in 2020 by David McStravick, Mechanical Engineering.

Overview This collection contains videotapes, DVDs, CDs, record albums, cassette tapes, reel-to-reel tapes and other formats associated with Rice University from the 1920s to 2008. Types of materials include amateur recordings of Rice events, clips from television and radio news broadcasts about Rice-related topics, and professional recordings of Rice events. Formats include record albums, films, magnetic recordings such as videos and audio tapes, and digital recordings including CDs and DVDs.

Overview Biochemistry Department files documenting the daily business of the department, including records of seminars, faculty members’ grants, department brochures, budget files, and more. Faculty members represented include but are not limited to Kathleen Beckingham, George N. Bennett, Janet Braam, Susan Gibson, Raymon M. Glantz, Richard H. Gomer, Michael Gustin, Kathleen S. Matthews, John S. Olson, Graham A. Palmer, George N. Phillips, Jr., and Michael Stern.

Overview The collection consists of a variety of visual images--slides, CDs, and photographic prints--of people, events, and activities of the Rice University Bioengineering Department from its establishment in 1997 to 2008, when the ten-year anniversary was celebrated.
