Overview This collection contains a series of typed letters (1981-1982) from Professor Thomas, a member of the Rice University English faculty, to Nancy Boothe, Director of the Woodson Research Center, concerning the history of the university. Also included are two duplicate series that are collections of verse and prose observations on numerous topics, intended for circulation. A miscellaneous file includes notices and photographs relating to Professor Thomas’ Mark Twain programs.

Abstract: This collection contains papers from Adams’ professional career as a renowned geologist and professor at Rice University. Included are papers regarding his careers in consulting, teaching, recycling and writing; also included is Adams’ correspondence, membership in organizations and attendance at meetings.

Overview The John Bryant economics papers provide a sneak peek into the inner workings of the economics classroom at Rice University. Ranging from introductory classes to high-level graduate theory, Bryant’s class notes cover a number of topics.

Abstract: The academic papers of Chemistry Professor and Dean of Advanced Studies and Research John L. Margrave reflect the daily business of his career at Rice University, and his involvement with Gulf Universities Research Consortium (GURC), Houston Area Research Center (HARC), High Temperature Science, and Marchem, Incorporated.

Overview The collection consists of materials from Dr. John W. Clark, Jr., professor in both the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Bioengineering at Rice University. The collection also includes records of Dr. Clark’s participation in the work of several university committees, specifically Parking, Graduate Student, Admissions, and the Library. In addition there is material prepared for evaluation of courses to determine ABET accreditation in 2005.

Overview This collection contains the academic papers and published articles of Joseph Horace Pound, Professor Emeritus of Mechanical Engineering at Rice University.

Abstract: The Davies papers include papers, lecture notes, glass slides, and transparencies produced by Joseph I. Davies, who came to Rice Institute (later Rice University) in 1914 with Julian Huxley as his lab assistant, later received his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees from Rice, and from 1929 to 1966 served as a member of the Rice faculty. The glass slides and transparencies taken by Davies include scenes of the early development of the Rice campus as well as later campus scenes and individuals.
