Permission to publish from the Rice University Art Gallery Records must be obtained from the Woodson Research Center, Fondren Library, Rice University.
In 1971, Sewall Hall was constructed making space available for a permanent art gallery at Rice University referred to as the Sewall Gallery. Originally the gallery was managed by faculty but soon had the benefit of a full time director. In 1994, it was renamed the Rice University Art Gallery.
