Arithmetic instruction book written in French from the first half of the seventeenth century. It consists of 284 pages written in calligraphy and ornamented with colored drawings. It was probably written for the instruction of a Prince of Orange.

Anderson, a 1976 graduate of Rice University, wrote the novel while pursuing a Ph.D. at Yale University. At the time this typescript was accessioned (1983), Anderson was a professor at Pennsylvania University; the novel was unpublished.
