The collection consists of correspondence, college materials, pamphlets and programs, materials related to the construction of Sewall residence and the Sewall's Japan trip. The dates for this collection range from 1847 to 1959 with the bulk of the material ranging from 1935 to 1948.

Letters, diaries, scrapbooks, and notebooks belonging to various members of the Elliott family, dating from 1830-1951. The majority of the collection's letters are from the early 20th-century, though some date from the U.S. Civil War (describing life in Mississippi). Other materials describe farm life in Kansas, railroad business, attendance at Rice Institute, and the family life of the Elliotts.

Containing a number of materials such as bulletins, postcards, photographs, programs, magazines, and news clippings, the collection illuminates the day-to-day existence of some of Houston’s more prominent Jewish points of interest.
