This collection of speeches, correspondences, reports, and photographs documents the work of Albert Thomas, U.S. Representative for Harris County, Texas, from 1936-1966. Albert Thomas was the first Rice Alumnus to serve in Congress. He graduated from Rice Institute in 1920.

This collection houses the interviews and biographical sketch of David F. Chapman, a 1953 graduate of Rice University in architecture. Background of major projects, the companies Mr. Chapman worked for and lead, and interview/newsclippings with Mr. Chapman and company literature/marketing.

The Hobby Family Foundation is a non-profit organization organized in 1940 and located in Houston, Texas. The Hobby Foundation Records include information covering legal correspondences between the Hobby family, the Hobby Foundation, and the Houston Post Company, foundation corporate minute books (which comprise most of the collection), and financial records.

Scope and Contents

The records reflect the annual alumni events overseen by the Alumni Affairs office between the years of 1992 and 2012 and supervised by Jennifer Harding, Director of Reunion Programs and Special Events.

Abstract The collection consists primarily of materials created by alumni of the Rice University School of Architecture. Dates of the materials range from 1927 to 1990. A large portion of the collection is made up of drawings that won the William Ward Watkin Traveling Fellowship.
