Huffington and allied families' papers
This collection includes biographical sketches, legal documents, books, correspondence, and news clippings about individuals related to the Huffington, Coulbourn, Michel, Gough, Brown, Carrington families, and along with other collateral families. The bulk of the collection pertains to Phyllis Gough Huffington’s research into collateral family lines and focuses from the mid-seventeenth century to the mid-twentieth century.
Hugh H. Wilson U.S. Civil War papers
Many of these letters are courtship letters to Wilson's future wife, Mary Grier, containing information on the aspirations and attitudes of people in South Carolina whose wealth was based on the stolen labor of enslaved people during the U.S. Civil War period. Wilson also relays information about hospitals, medicine, schools, cemteries, camp life and the military, and the issue of conscription.

During this time, the Port of Houston grew from the nation's twelfth largest port to its third largest. Materials also relate to the Brazos River Harbor Navigation District, Houston Ship Channel maps, and scrapbooks on WWII and Japan.
