South Texas Jewish Archives vertical file
The collection includes individual files within the South Texas Jewish Archives including materials including: newsclippings, notes, correspondence, photographs, and other materials. The contents are donated by community members and/or gathered by the HJHA staff.
Stages Theater records
Stages Theater records contain materials related to play production programs and other production materials from 1978-2016, press clippings, annual gala and events records, administrative records, photographs, and circa 200 audio and video recordings in analog formats such as VHS and audio cassette.
Tania Brown Family Papers
The Tania Brown Family Papers feature the wartime record of Frank Brown, shown through correspondence and documents, and Rachel Mayer Brown’s involvement in the Texas Southern Region’s Hadassah Organization through a photo album memorializing her experiences and connections to the larger Jewish Community.
The Other Economic Summit (TOES) records
The collection consists of background information about The Other Economic Summit (TOES) at Rice University, organizational and press materials for TOES, 1990, publications generated by the meetings, and audio tapes of proceedings.
Tito Refi Filipino-American event programs
Event programs from a variety of Filipino community and professional organizations document the groups' activities in both the Houston area and the greater Texas region.
Topek/Silverman Family papers
The collection contains one folder of programs from events at Congregation Emanu El and Brith Shalom; a photograph of Joseph Silverman at the construction site for Houston's first modern skyscraper, the Melrose Building, downtown on the corner of Walker and San Jacinto; a newsclipping about Melvin Silverman's death; and a Beth Yeshurun newsletter.
Vietnamese Culture and Science Association event programs
The collection consists of programs from annual Youth Excellence Recognition Award luncheons, the 25th anniversary celebration of the Vietnamese Culture and Science Association, newsletters of the association, and a program from a 2004 national conference of the National Alliance of Vietnamese American Service Agencies.
Weinstein Family papers
The Weinstein Family papers showcase Irving and Lily Weinstein, and their ties to the broader Houston Jewish community. Irving’s service in World War II and Lily’s civic engagement with both San Jacinto High School and Congregation Beth Israel are preserved in the letters they exchanged while Irving was overseas. Featuring photographs, news clippings, and a plethora of military correspondence and documentation, the Weinstein Family papers offer insight into a century of Jewish History.
Westheimer/Simon Family Papers
The Westheimer/Simon family papers span several generations of the family living in Houston, and making their mark on the Houston Jewish community. With a variety of materials ranging from correspondence to photographs, sermons to yearbooks, the Westheimer/Simon family papers are a rich trove for any researcher interested in the history of one of Houston’s more influential families.
Yellen Family Papers
The Yellen Family papers are comprised of photographs and memorabilia related to Milton Yellen’s time practicing dentistry in New Guinea for the army during World War II, and photographs and newsclippings of his wife Florence Kless Yellen throughout her life. The collection also contains religious and army certificates, publications, and correspondence depicting the Yellen family’s connections to the Jewish community.
