This collection contains the personal and business papers of George S. Cohen from 1924-1961. Included are tax returns, bank statements, financial records, receipts, and a checkbook. Also included are a green silk tie, a large button, and a photograph of Cohen and several other men.

This letter was written by George Tucker in 1836 while he was a professor at the University of Virginia. It was presumably addressed to his bank recording a deposit in the amount of $250 for a future investment.

Wortham was a pioneer in the insurance industry in Texas , founding the American General Life Insurance Company, one of the first multi-line insurance firms, in 1926. Gus S. and Lyndall F. Wortham were very generous philanthropists in Houston, supporting the arts in many ways.
