Biographical / Historical
Russ Pitman graduated from Rice in 1958 with a degree in business administration and economics, and became Rice's Chief Accountant in 1960. From 1969 to 1976 he was Assistant to the President (Norman Hackerman) and from 1976 to 1980 he was Manager of Campus Business Affairs. The Humanities Building Tower is named in honor of his parents, Morris R. and Mavis C. Pitman. In addition to Pitman's donations for the Humanities Tower, he has also generously funded 15 fellowships, awards and prizes.
