Biographical / Historical
Kathleen Marden is an educator and researcher who is best known for her work documenting and preserving the history of the Betty and Barney Hill UFO case. She is the niece of Betty and Barney Hill and serves as the trustee of her estate, maintaining the Hill’s papers and correspondence and helping preserve materials related to the incident. Marden has also worked with scientists who investigated the case and has been involved with multiple extraterrestrial committees.
Beyond her archival and research work, Kathleen Marden has co-authored and written several books focused on UFO encounters and reported abduction experiences, including "The Alien Abduction Files". She has spent years interviewing witnesses, reviewing recorded hypnosis sessions conducted with the Hills, and speaking publicly about the case and its cultural impact. Through her publications and lectures, she has remained one of the primary figures responsible for preserving and interpreting the historical record surrounding the Hill sighting.
Betty and Barney Hill were a married couple from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, who became widely known after reporting that they experienced an encounter with an unidentified flying object in September 1961. Barney Hill worked for the United States Postal Service and Betty Hill was a social worker, and the couple were active in their church and civil rights efforts within their community. Their account became one of the first widely publicized reports of an alien abduction and attracted national attention.
Following the incident, their story was documented through investigations, hypnosis sessions, and later popularized in the 1966 book "The Interrupted Journey". The Hills reported unusual memories, missing time, and observations of a strange craft during a nighttime drive in New Hampshire, which contributed to the case becoming one of the most influential and debated events in modern-day UFO history.
