Biographical / Historical

In August 1982, a group of Houstonians met to create a Houston chapter of the Texas Economic and Demographic Association. The association went on to offer a yearly meeting and professional development opportunities. While its exact dissolution date is unclear, it might have dissolved in 2015 or shortly after.

According to the 1997-1998 membership directory, the organization objectives were "to foster cooperation and the exchange of information among those interested in or engaged in the collection, distribution, and analysis of economic and demographic information for the Houston region" and "to enhance the calibre of economic and demographic research, analysis, and discussion in the Houston region by providing continuing education and useful information to its members through meetings, a newsletter, and other means."
