Three boxes and oversize items including programs, brochures, news clippings, newsletters, and bulletins from Rodfei Shalom, Agudas Achim, U.O.S., and Beth Yeshurun; Camp Young Judaea materials, an interview with Ana Furman on CD, a poster from a Rice Jewish Studies school trip to NYC, and Jewish Herald Voice draft manuscripts.

Forms part of the South Texas Jewish Archives.

Permission to publish material from the Joshua Furman Papers must be obtained from the Woodson Research Center, Fondren Library.

The Woodson Research Center use policy is that researchers assume sole responsibility for any infringement of privacy, literary rights, copyrights, or other rights arising from their use of the archival materials. In addition to any restrictions placed by donors, certain kinds of archival materials are restricted for the life of the creator plus 50 years. These materials include, but are not limited to, student grades, transcripts, and any job applications or recommendations.

Biographical / Historical

Dr. Joshua Furman was born to Susan and Joseph Furman and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He grew up attending Congregation Rodfei Shalom.

He received his Ph.D. in modern Jewish history from the University of Maryland in 2015.

He worked at Rice University from 2015-2023, where he served as the Associate Director of the Program in Jewish Studies and the founder and first curator of the Joan and Stanford Alexander South Texas Jewish Archives.

He is currently serving as the Jeanne Abrams Endowed Director at the Rocky Mountain Jewish Historical Society.
