Permission to publish material from the Celene Chasen Papers must be obtained from the Woodson Research Center, Fondren Library. Biographical / Historical

The B'nai B'rith Youth Organization (BBYO) was founded in 1923. BBYO is the leading pluralistic teen movement aspiring to involve more Jewish teens in more meaningful Jewish experiences. Joseph Bayre Brooks was born February 7, 1913, in Fall River, Massachusetts. Jeanette Zimmerman was born in Houston, Texas, October 9, 1914. The couple married in 1938 in Houston and had two children, Celene and Bernard.

Joseph died in 1961 and Jeanette in 1981. Both are buried at Adath Emeth Cemetery in Houston.
