This collection is made up of materials from Congregation Shaar Hashalom in Houston, Texas. Conditions Governing Use

Permission to publish material from the Congregation Shaar Hashalom Records must be obtained from the Woodson Research Center, Fondren Library.

The Woodson Research Center use policy is that researchers assume sole responsibility for any infringement of privacy, literary rights, copyrights, or other rights arising from their use of the archival materials. In addition to any restrictions placed by donors, certain kinds of archival materials are restricted for the life of the creator plus 50 years. These materials include, but are not limited to, student grades, transcripts, and any job applications or recommendations.

Biographical / Historical

Congregation Shaar Hashalom was founded in 1967 and serves the Southeast Houston area including Clear Lake, Friendswood, Pearland, and the Bay Area. They are a Conservative synagogue and a member of the United Synagogues of Conservative Judaism (USCJ). The synagogue was founded by families living in Clear Lake who no longer wished to commute to Houston for services, and has grown over the last 50 years as that area of Houston has grown. They constructed their current synagogue at 10620 El Camino Real in 1974.
