Biographical / Historical
Congregation Shaar Hashalom was founded in 1967 and serves the Southeast Houston area including Clear Lake, Friendswood, Pearland, and the Bay Area. They are a Conservative synagogue and a member of the United Synagogues of Conservative Judaism (USCJ). The synagogue was founded by families living in Clear Lake who no longer wished to commute to Houston for services, and has grown over the last 50 years as that area of Houston has grown.
