Permission to publish material from the Miron / Berman Family Papers must be obtained from the Woodson Research Center, Fondren Library. The Woodson Research Center use policy is that researchers assume sole responsibility for any infringement of privacy, literary rights, copyrights, or other rights arising from their use of the archival materials. In addition to any restrictions placed by donors, certain kinds of archival materials are restricted for the life of the creator plus 50 years. These materials include, but are not limited to, student grades, transcripts, and any job applications or recommendations.

Biographical / Historical

Rebecca Kaminsky (1864-1940) married Benje Zion Yalchuk and had one child: Hessie. After Benje died, Rebecca married Samuel Chaskin and had three children: Ida, Izzy, and Abe. Hessie was adopted by Samuel and took the name Hessie Yalchuk-Chaskin.

Hershel Mirochnik (Harry Miron) immigrated to the United States from Russia (Ukraine) in 1913 followed by his wife, Hessie, in 1914 along with their four children: Sam, Dorothy, Frieda, and Jacob. A son named Bernard was born around 1907 and died in 1909 before the couple immigrated. Harry and Hessie had five more children after arriving in the United States: Simon, Ruth, Goldie, Nathan and Molly.

Sam Miron (1906-1981) married Fannie Berman (1912-1992) in 1934 and they had two children: Milton and Annette. Sam and Fannie died in Houston and are interred in Emanu El Memorial Park Cemetery.
