Biographical / Historical

Belden's Food Market was founded by Joe Belden in 1951. The first location at West Belfort and South Post Oak was in operation for 35 years. When Joe's son, Rick, took over the business in 1987, he moved the store to the Braeswood Square shopping center off Braeswood and Chimney Rock. Declining sales after Hurricane Harvey was one of the factors that led to the closure of Belden's in January 2020.
