Scope and Contents
The majority of the events represented in the collection occurred in the 1990s and the first decade and a half of the 2000s. There were annual Associates Dinners, ground breakings for three buildings, dedication ceremonies for three buildings and for art installations. Also represented are events held for the purpose of honoring individuals. Commencement ceremonies of 1993 and 2001 are included as well.

Permission to publish material from the Rice University Development Office Event Records, 1988-2016 must be obtained from the Woodson Research Center, Fondren Library, Rice University.
Biographical / Historical
Events planned and carried out by the Rice University Development Office are related in some way to work of the office for the purpose of achieving growth in private gift revenues to the University from individuals, corporations and foundations. Some of the events recur annually; others like ground breakings and dedication ceremonies are one-time happenings.

Abstract
The collection consists of planning records; photographs, plaques, film, paper and digital; video DVDs, VHS cssettes, one zip disk, two floppy disks, and two micro-cassettes. The various media contain images of participants in events like Rice Associates dinners, ground breakings for new buildings, and dedication ceremonies. The VHS cassettes include several commencement ceremonies not in other collections.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
These materials have been placed with the Woodson Research Center by members of the Rice University Development Office. They were received in January 2018.
