Scope and Contents

This is a collection of oral history interviews conducted by Ed Chen and fellow members of the Chinese American community in Houston. Also included are several recording the KPFT "Echoes of China" radio program produced by Andy Lai, dating from 1980-1981.

Biographical / Historical

Dr. Edward Chen was born and raised in Houston, Texas, a third generation Chinese American. He attended Rice University and later earned a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Houston. He went on to work in the chemical industry, becoming Chief Chemist at Signal Chemical Company.
