07. Asian American community

The Gee Family Association (GFA) is an organization of generations of Gees and their extended families. This collection includes print materials such as event flyers and programs, genealogies, and circa 20 photographs, primarily regarding the activities of the Gee Family Association in Houston, Texas.

This collection consists of the Jhin family’s personal and professional achievements in business and the Asian-American community of Houston. Formats include awards, photographs, certificates, books, and newsclippings.

The collection consists of the correspondence, papers, and selected books accumulated and saved by Chuan-Hua Gershom Lowe throughout his lifetime as student, journalist, Chinese embassy official, librarian, husband, and father. Lowe was born in China in 1902, earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Chicago, lived again in China, in Burma, in India, in Argentina, in Canada, and again in the U.S., dying in 1996.

The collection consists of the scans of Mr. Hong's scrapbook, which includes 109 photos of community events. There are photos of Explorer Scouts at their air base, meetings of the American Legion, American-Chinese post no. 596, Houston Tx, VA dinners, American Legion trip to Washington, DC., Veteran's Day parade, City of Houston Proclamation Day, and the Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Celebration.

The collection contains family photos of the Gor, Chow, and Fong families, with 2 pages of biographical information.

This is a collection of oral history interviews conducted by the Vietnamese American Heritage Foundation, featuring audio recordings and transcripts of interviews with Vietnamese Americans living in and near Houston, Texas.

Records documenting the activities of Glenda Joe with the Houston Asian American Festival Association, as well as with community advocacy issues concerning the Asian American communities in Houston, circa 1980-2015.

The collection consists of materials from participation in activities of the Philippino-American community in Houston, Texas spanning the years 1991 to 2014.

This collection contains correspondence, programs, and other papers regarding or created by the Chinese American Citizens Alliance (CACA), related to the national organization or to the Houston Lodge specifically, as well as personal papers of Edward K.T. Chen. It also contains a variety of materials about Asian-Americans and Chinese-Americans. (3 boxes)

This collection contains personal Zoroastrian artifact's belonging to Mody as well as his obituary and program for his celebration of life ceremony.
