Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The collection includes 11 letters writtten by James Miller, A Company, 63rd Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers to his brother, Samuel, in Williamsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The letters, written between Ocotober 6, 1861 and March 11, 1864, offer a good account of daily camp life. Also included are five letters from Robert Miller to Samuel Miler and one letter from Bell Miller to Samuel Miller. These letters were written between April 24, 1868 and April 22, 1872 and primarily discuss family and friends. The collection also includes Confederate currency notes of $5, $10, and $20 denominations, all of which were issued on February 17, 1864.
