Rice University Welfare Committee records
The collection consists of the notes, correspondence, and minutes of the Committee on University Welfare, formed in 1961. It served as a grievance committee until 1971 when the committee disbanded and its functions were taken over by the newly organized Faculty Council and the University Council.
Rice University Wiess School of Natural Sciences dean search records

This collection contains correspondence, departmental records, course preparation materials, and course assistant records relating to Thomas A. Rabson’s career as professor of electrical engineering at Rice University. Also included are conference materials, reference materials, energy research studies and reports, and information concerning Dr. Rabson’s grant proposals, consultation with energy and electronics corporations, and expertise in lasers and ferroelectric thin films.
Thomas Lindsey Blayney papers
Papers of Thomas Lindsey Blayney, a founding member of the faculty of Rice Institute (now University) and Professor of German there from 1912- 1924; materials include records of his military service during World War I (1917-1919), and later appointments as president of Texas State Women’s College (1924-26) and dean of Carleton College (1926-46); also included are family memoirs, correspondence, photographs, news clippings, and memorabilia.
Twenty-Six Literary Club records
The records of the Twenty-Six Literary Club document the activities of this women’s social and philanthropic club established in 1909 by a group of Houston women residing in the Woodland Heights neighborhood. Some members’ daughters became students at the Rice Institute (later University) after it opened in 1912 and continued the Club, expanding its membership over the years and engaging in various community projects, including providing scholarships for young women entering Rice.
Walter W. and Ella F. Fondren Papers, 1838-1973
The Fondren Papers provide a record of the Fondren family's acquisition and dispersal of money in Houston and across Texas during the first three-quarters of this century and offers additional information on the financial workings of several well-known institutions and corporations. Formats include correspondence and financial documents.
William H. Masterson papers
The collection contains one series of Masterson's academic papers and one series related to his wife, Orvetta Masterson. Correspondence, newsclips, photographs, certificates, Rice-related brochures and information on the Masterson Fund are included.
