Abstract

The Congregation Beth Jacob, Galveston [TX] records is made up of letters, invitations, programs, bulletins, directories, legal documents, and a DVD recording the history of this small, vibrant congregation on Texas’ southern coast. Formed from two smaller communities--Russian and Austro-Hungarian--the congregation has a rich history of tradition.

Abstract

This collection contains documents and memorabilia donated by Libby and Edward Marvins related to their time as congregants at Emanu El as well as an oral history conducted with Libby Marvins by staff with the Houston Jewish History Archive in 2018. The materials (including photos, newsprint, correspondence, and other unique items) offer insight into the events and organizations of the Houston Jewish community in the latter half of the 20th century.

The collection represents the history of Beer-Bike, the race rules, resolution, reports, newsclippings, realia, and financial lists as well as some programs.

Abstract The collection consists of records and object memorabilia from participation by Rice University students in the national quiz tournament known as the College Bowl from 1966 to 2008. The paper records include lists of team member names, results of tournament competition, and scoring sheets from campus tournaments.
