Abstract

Founded in March 1976 by business, institutional and civic leaders, the South Main Center Association is a private, non-profit community and economic development organization which represents the residential, commercial and institutional interests of the approximately 12.5 square mile South Main area located within the inner loop. In 2005, the South Main Center Association (SMCA) was renamed the South Main Alliance. These records reflect the daily business of the organization.

William “Bill” Camfield papers

Abstract

The papers of art historian William Camfield include correspondence concerning Rice University Cullinan Visiting Professors, gift of Mrs. George R. Brown for sculpture for Rice University Campus, photographs and slides, newspaper clippings and brochures of Rice exhibits and sculpture. Also included is material concerning the Rice Institute for the Arts. There are also tapes of lectures by Robert Irwin, Cullinan Lecturer.

William P. Hobby Jr. & Diana Poteat Hobby Family Collection

Scope and Contents

The collection includes Diana P. Hobby's writing and research notes, from the early 1950s to 2014, focused on her study of William Butler Yeats. The bulk of the collection consists of family photographs and slides from the Hobby family's worldwide travels and their frequent visits to Ireland, and to Diana Hobby's family farm in North Carolina, Forest Home, along with their equestiran endeavors and competitions, and their lives and friends in Houston, TX.
