Weber-Staub-Briscoe architectural ironwork collection

Abstract

This collection includes pattern boards (design molds) and metal castings of architectural details such as stair rails, fencing, and other metalwork ornaments manufactured by Weber Iron & Wire Company from the 1930's to the 1990's. Some were designed by architects John F. Staub and Birdsall P. Briscoe. The collection also includes photographs, architectural drawings, reference books, and tools used in the manufacturing process, along with invoices from the company from 1933 to 1987.

William T. Cannady Architectural Projects records

These records include architectural drawings, renderings and project documentation related to the work of William T. Cannady. As a Professor of Architecture at Rice University since 1964, Cannady teaches both undergraduate and graduate design studios, and is a practicing architect.

William Ward Watkin family papers

Abstract

Correspondence, photographs, family trees, vital records and other genealogical material related to the Watkin family of Houston, TX (1910s-current) and of Danville, Pennsylvania (late 19th century). William Ward Watkin (1886-1952) was the first Supervising Architect of Rice Institute and the first chair of the Dept. of Architecture at Rice Institute. His daughter, Ray Watkin Strange, is a Rice graduate and significant supporter of Rice University and the Fondren Library.
