Most of the letters contain travel plans and arrangements for meeting each other; however, several of the letters comment on current events, including Galsworthy’s response to Sadler on the outbreak of World War I.

Anderson, a 1976 graduate of Rice University, wrote the novel while pursuing a Ph.D. at Yale University. At the time this typescript was accessioned (1983), Anderson was a professor at Pennsylvania University; the novel was unpublished.
