Lively diary, 1 volume of 291 pages, c. 4 1/2" x 7 1/2".
J. W. Lively’s diary is hand-written in pencil and records his activities and observations while traveling as a Methodist circuit preacher. Much of his diary concerns churches where he preached, people he met and families with whom he stayed, and details of the trains by which he traveled and the countryside through which he passed during the years 1883-84 and 1887-89. The last pages consist of ledgers recording church membership and attendance, and Lively's own financial accounts.
