Biographical / Historical
Helen Doherty Bond was born May 17, 1813, and died February 15, 1905. She kept this diary when she was in her late teen years and twenties. On April 11, 1838 she married George T. Johnson. They had several children, including Marius Burke Johnson, born September 2, 1840, who was killed in a battle near Nashville on December 15, 1864.
