Biographical / Historical
Envisioned and established in 1987 by Charles R. Gregg, a Houston attorney, and Marvin Wesley (Wes) Seeliger (1938-2000), an Episcopal priest, educator, author, and cartoonist, the Foundation for Contemporary Theology (FCT) sought to highlight and publicize "compeling, theological, philosophical and ethical concerns." It brought numerous Christian and non-Christian speakers to Houston, provided resources to groups interested in similar goals, and organized public events to reach a wide audience. Seeliger was the first director, followed by Robert H. Tucker, 2000-2013, Leslie Switzer, 2013-2016, and Ruth Wolfe Seeliger, 2016-2019. FCT officially dissolved in 2019.
