Permission to publish material from the Gerilyn Farb Gordon Family Papers must be obtained from the Woodson Research Center, Fondren Library. The Woodson Research Center use policy is that researchers assume sole responsibility for any infringement of privacy, literary rights, copyrights, or other rights arising from their use of the archival materials. In addition to any restrictions placed by donors, certain kinds of archival materials are restricted for the life of the creator plus 50 years. Biographical / Historical
Lillie Markewich was born August 31, 1927, in Beaumont, Texas, to Joseph and Gitel Markewich. She moved to Bay City, Texas, to live with her sister and brother-in-law following the death of her parents. Lillie moved to Houston after graduating from Bay City High School.
Haskell Farb was born in Galveston, Texas, September 3, 1920, to A.L. and Nettie Farb. He grew up in Galveston and graduated from Ball High School in 1937. Haskell served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He returned to Galveston after the war and went into the grocery business.
Lillie and Haskell met on a blind date in August 1949. The two were married that October and had two children,
Haskell Farb died July 31, 2008, Lillie Markewich Farb died November 12, 2017. They were interred at Beth Jacob Cemetery in Galveston.
